Early life

Terry Paxton Bradshaw is the son of Novis and William Bradshaw and was born on 2 September 1948 in Camanche, Iowa.

He has two brothers, Gary and Craig.

Career

Ever since high school, Bradshaw was a talent to watch in athletics. While still in Woodlawn High School, he set a national javelin throw record at 245 feet and excelled in football, making him feature in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd.

After completing high school, Bradshaw decided to join Louisiana Tech University. Despite being good in the game and previous records, he was still a backup quarterback in his first two seasons at Louisiana.

He led the NCAA in total yards covered in a junior season, completing 2890, and led his team to a 33-13 and 9-2 record over Akron in the Rice Bowl.

After completing college in 1984, Brad owned almost all the passing records at the time and received the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement, thus led to his induction into the Louisiana Tech Sports Hall of Fame and also the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame four years down the line.

In 1970 the Pittsburgh Steelers chose Bradshaw as the NFL draft as the Number 1 shirt overall pick. He played for the Steelers for 13 years straight, where he managed to win multiple individual awards and finished with 27984 passing yards, 212 touchlines, and 210 interceptions.

Bradshaw’s retirement sent the Steelers to an immediate rebuilding situation despite returning to Super Bowl status. Still, they did not find a consistent replacement for him until Ben Roethlisberger arrived in 2004. He then signed a television contract with CBS as an NFL analyst and, after doing well, was promoted to a TV studio analyst for the NFL, Today show in 1990.
