Melissa Ivy Rauch was born on June 23, 1980 in Marlboro Township, New Jersey. Her parents are Susan and David Rauch, a Jewish family from New Jersey. Rauch has an older brother, Ben. She developed an interest in acting and comedy while attending Marlboro High School. Her Bat Mitzvah had a ‘Melissa’s Comedy Club’ theme. Melissa attended Marymount Manhattan College in New York City where she graduated in 2002.

From 2004 to 2008, Melissa Rauch was a regular contributor on the series Best Week Ever, aired on VH1. In 2010, she had a recurring role on the HBO fantasy horror drama True Blood, where she played the role of Summer, a girl who likes Hoyt. She also played the role of Tina in the American remake of the Australian TV series Kath & Kim.

On December 4, 2017, Rauch made an announcement on Instagram that she had given birth to a girl who they named Sadie. On May 4, 2020, Rauch announced the birth of their son, Brooks.
